Reiki, What is it and how it can help youby Debbie Jones on 05/06/17
Have you heard the word Reiki or Energy healing and wondered what is it is and whether it can help with your aches, pains or even stress? If you have been curious about energy healing, you have come to the right place. I will share with you what Reiki is, how it administered and how it can help you feel better both physically and emotionally.
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction, relaxation, promoting healing and it also is a form of energy healing. The word REIKI translates to Universal Life Force Energy; everything around us, including our bodies, is made up of energy. So how do we know when we might need more Universal Life Force energy or Reiki? When our bodies are energetically out of balance we may feel physical discomfort, little aches and pains, exhaustion or even become sick easily or often. We may even experience the imbalance emotionally by feeling overwhelmed, short-tempered or stressed. When our bodies are energetically in balance we have enough energy to sustain us through the day, we feel happy, joyful, and our bodies are free of physical pain. No one is ever in balance all of the time, but our goal is to be more in balance then we are out of balance. Reiki helps activate the natural healing processes to restore physical and emotional well-being.
Reiki is administered by a Reiki Practitioner or Master that has been attuned to Reiki energy. A Reiki practitioner is like an extension cord for the healing energy. As you lay comfortably fully-clothed on a massage table, the practitioner sets the intention for healing and channels the healing energy by gently placing their hands on you or having their hands raised slightly above your body. Since our bodies are made up of energy, when the Reiki energy is presented, it gently brings our bodies into balance.
The wonderful part about Reiki or energy healing is that energy has no boundaries. A treatment can take place in person or even over the telephone. The effects of a Reiki treatment are just as effective once the intention for healing has been set.
Sessions can last anywhere from 30-60 minutes. Most clients feel improvement after one session. However, depending on the depth of the imbalance in your body it may take a few sessions to bring your body into balance.
